The Blackface Experience is a multimedia presentation based mainly on photographic
imagery that highlights the achievements of African-Americans coupled with the struggles/shortcomings that we still battle. The power of this presentation comes from
the impactful imagery, interesting historical facts and the open dialogue that
the audience participates in.
Here are some of the key points we address:
Africa, Slavery, Reconstruction, Black Codes, Convict Leasing, Jim Crow Era, Minstrel Shows, Lynching, Black Wall Street, Harlem Renaissance, Civil Rights Movement and Present Times.

Ultimately, the presentation culminates with modern-themed images of Blacks
in Blackface. These photos articulate the demeaning behaviors that some African-Americans ascribe to due to low self-esteem, mis-information and media’s negative portrayal of Blacks. The ultimate goal is to have the viewers personally look inward to overcome with negative self-imagery and destructive thought patterns.
